What Is a Rotating Residential Proxy?
A rotating residential proxy is a proxy service whose IP address changes automatically and whose addresses come from real home broadband networks (ISPs). It combines the two core capabilities of “dynamic IPs” and “residential IPs,” making it one of today’s mainstream tools for privacy protection, data collection, and bypassing anti-bot defenses.
Dynamic rotation (rotating IPs)
- Every connection or every request (depending on configuration) can use a different IP address.
- Rotation methods include:
- Rotating sessions: the IP changes automatically on every request;
- Sticky sessions: a preset session duration (1-120 minutes) keeps the same IP, and a new IP is assigned automatically when the duration ends or the IP becomes unavailable.
- Purpose: mimic the natural browsing behavior of large numbers of real users and avoid blocks caused by high-frequency traffic from a single IP.
Residential IP origin (high trust level)
- IP addresses are assigned by internet service providers (ISPs) to real household users.
- To target websites, the traffic appears to come from regular home users rather than datacenter servers.
- Advantages:
→ Extremely difficult to identify as proxy IPs
→ Can access websites that are sensitive to datacenter IPs (such as social media and e-commerce platforms)
→ More accurate geo-targeting and bypass of regional restrictions (because the IP geolocation is real)
IPxSS operates its own clean proxy pool with more than 100 million residential IP resources across more than 220 countries and regions. It supports country/state/city-level targeting to help you access geo-restricted content.
